Hampton Roads photographer Kristina Whitman works on location. Her goal is to capture timeless images that are natural and real, and toward this end she prefers to allow your child time and space to relax and open up. Please allow at least two hours for your session. For Newborn Sessions, please allow at least three hours to make time for feeding, changing, etc.

Kristina's studio is located in Suffolk, VA. She photographs children, newborn, and families in all of Hampton Roads including Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton, and Newport News. She will travel to your home for your session or you may meet her on location. Possibilities include a local park, by a lake or river, or at the beach. Kristina works throughout the Hampton Roads area. Additional travel fees may apply depending on distance, please email the studio for more information.

Please be aware that Kristina is first and foremost a mom. Therefore, on occasion her children's needs may necessitate the rescheduling of an appointment.

Scheduling

Morning, afternoon, and evening sessions are available. Please note that certain times of the year tend to fill up faster, so please call as early as possible for booking. Kristina will make room in her schedule for Maternity, Labor & Delivery, and Newborn sessions. To schedule an appointment or for more information please email kristina@kristinawhitman.com

Newborn scheduling: Please call Kristina as soon as your baby is born. Newborns loose that "wrinkly, scrunched" look within the first week, so newborn sessions are best done within the first 7 days of life if possible.

Maternity scheduling: Please call Kristina in or around your 25th week of pregnancy for scheduling. The optimal time for Maternity pictures is around 34 weeks. Please note that delivery times can vary; if your doctor thinks your baby may be born early, please call Kristina immediately! She *can* do maternity sessions at the hospital, but prefers not to!

Labor & Delivery scheduling: This very special, intimate experience can be captured forever by Kristina. What an amazing gift to preserve this momentous event for your child! Kristina will work with you to plan the documentation of this experience. She will be respectful of your privacy by using a photojournalistic style. Her goal will be to go as unnoticed as possible both during labor and after, capturing images of the event while remaining unobtrusive. If you schedule Kristina for your Labor and Delivery, she will remain "on-call" for you 24 hours a day during the week before, week of, and week after your due date. Should she fail to make it to the delivery on time, your deposit will be applied in full toward a newborn session and print credit.

Policies

The Session Retainer Fee is due upon booking. Kristina will arrive about 10 minutes early for your session to look around your home, prepare her equipment, and get ready for the session. Please allow at least 2 hours (or 3 for a newborn). You will not be rushed or hurried! Kristina will take her time and allow your child to enjoy the process. There is no stress!

About 3 weeks after your session your images will be available in an online gallery for ordering. There will be approximately 30 images from your session, and they will be arranged in a slide show. Your pictures will then be available in an online gallery for 7 days following your viewing. Please feel free to share these pictures with family, grandparents, friends, or anyone that may be interested in ordering prints. Any ordered portraits will be saved by Kristina for 60 days following your session in case you need to re-order. Re-orders placed at a later date will be subject to a $200 order minimum and a $50 gallery re-listing fee. Please note that due to space, images not purchased will be deleted.

Cancellations

As a mom, Kristina understands illnesses and emergencies. Please contact her as soon as you know that you will be unable to make an appointment. If possible, please give at least 48 hours notice. If you or your child wake up sick on the day of your appointment, no worries! Just call Kristina to let her know. Sick children do not photograph well, so please reschedule your session if your child has been sick in the previous 48 hours. Your payment will be applied as a credit toward the next session, which will be scheduled at the earliest available date.

Maternity: For this session, please bring the following if you have it: a white button down shirt (your husband's shirt will be fine!), a white and/or black tank top, black yoga pants, and jeans. We can do several clothing changes if necessary, so please bring whatever you would like. Your comfort is our priority. Also feel free to bring a special stuffed animal, baby shoes, meaningful jewelry, etc.

Newborn: Your baby will look best in her own skin! Please also bring a white or other solid color onesie. A diaper cover would be great if you have it. Funky or hand knit hats are great on babies too, and feel free to bring a special blankey or lovey or anything else special to your baby. Please bring a dark (preferably black) long-sleeved shirt for yourself.
